Q&A: Should I wear make-up while I have serious inflamed acne?

Question by mountaingirl88: Should I wear make-up while I have serious inflamed acne?
Part of me wants to wear it because i’m uncomfortable with the acne, but part of me doesn’t want to because i’m afraid that that is what is causing the acne, or making it worse. Up until now i’ve been wearing make-up every day…could that be why my acne is so bad and hasn’t cleared up yet?

What makeup is safe for acne-prone skin?

Question by Love4Mizzou: What makeup is safe for acne-prone skin?
I have been on a long search for foundation and powder that will not cause acne breakouts for me. I keep thinking I’m going to outgrow having skin that breaks out so easily, but I’m 24 and still having problems despite having seen a dermatologist. What brands do you think would be safe? I’ve been doing trial and error with it, but that is expensive, and I hate having breakouts for a week after a failed experiment.
I usually just wash with water unless I got unusually dirty like I was working out or something, then I use Neutrogena. Soaps seem to make it worse if used regularly so I try to avoid them. I’m very careful to not touch my face with dirty hands.

well I’ve been using bare minerals and my complexion is clearing up big time. I broke out at first because it was clearing my pores and bringing everything to the surface but now it’s looking wonderful. go try it : )

What type of makeup is better for oily acne prone skin? Mac or Bare minerals?

Question by : What type of makeup is better for oily acne prone skin? Mac or Bare minerals?
I have been using the original Bare minerals for a while now but haven’t tried the Mate kind. Bare minerals doesnt make me break out but it does make me look really oily on the nose and forehead and ends up comming off at the end of the day. I use a primer and that does help a little. I have been thinking about Using Mac makeup but i am affraid that it will make me break out.

Mac will make you get more oily from your face than Bare Minerals. I used MAC before I tried Bare Minerals Matte and Bare Minerals is actually way better. MAC is more for normal to dry skin.

I would say it is fine. As long as it doesn’t clog your pores. Also make sure to wash it off really good at night. Good luck acne is a tough blemish.

Suggestions on face makeup, please?

Question by Sam.: Suggestions on face makeup, please?
I never would think to wear face makeup for every day use (I save it for mass & special occasions/important things), but now that my breakouts are under control, my acne scars are noticeable… and I’m actually embarrassed by the scars, rather than the acne itself. So, I’m looking for face makeup that will make the scars less noticeable.

My skin type~
Acne prone, combination – oily.

What I’m looking for~
Something that will make the scars less noticeable, but I don’t want full coverage. I’d prefer sheer/medium coverage that I can build up. Obviously non comedogenic & something that won’t disappear in a couple of hours thanks to my oily-ish skin.

I’d prefer a powder or powder foundation because that’s easier, but I’m open to compact or liquid foundation as well. I’m interested in trying something from Neutrogena or Physicians Formula (because I know they’re good for acne prone skin), but I’m open to any drugstore & cheaper higher end (like Clinique, which is about $ 18-25) brands.

Thanks! icon biggrin Suggestions on face makeup, please?
I’m also on the hunt for a new mascara, so if you want to suggest a volumizing (drugstore brand) one, that’d be great icon smile Suggestions on face makeup, please?

I have oily, acne prone skin as well, and I use clinique’s moisture surge tinted moisturizer, and then cover girl power over that. It works well and if I’m feeling oily I just pat some more powder on and I’m good to go. And when I get home from school I just wipe everything off with a makeup wipe.

Also, I’d recommend Lush’s foundation, it’s supposed to be really good for your skin, as well as all their other face products. I’ve tried their foundation and I’m gonna buy some because it’s really good.

How to prevent makeup from giving me acne?

Question by : How to prevent makeup from giving me acne?
I started using makeup when I was 9, and then I stopped using it when I was ten all the way till I was 13. Now I bought a bunch of new stuff (mostly covergirl, I find it is the best for me) and I tried wearing it for a week but it caused really bad acne on my forehead. I don’t usually have acne, just a few zits here and there but as soon as I started wearing makeup, it started getting bad in the t-zone area.
What I did was moisturise my face with st. ives (I stopped using that on my face and now use an oil-free moisturiser) and then applied makeup.
Is there any way I can prevent my makeup from causing acne? I could use my oil-free moisturiser but it also dries out my skin a bit because it’s for right before putting on acne spot treatment? So is there anything I could do?

My makeup is changing colors, because of my acne…or skin type?

Question by : My makeup is changing colors, because of my acne…or skin type?
I have tried a wide range of makeup. I love looking pretty natural, i don’t like makeup to be ‘caked on’. I’m currently using bare minerals, it looks fine when i put it on, but my white skin throughout the day will look an unatural tan color, and my acne will look purplish. Its just ew. I want my skin to be the same color throughout the day (a question for girls….) whats best?

Answer by cass93
I’d say it’s your skin type!
having acne usually means that you have oily skin!
you should maybe re-think your beauty regime like your cleanser and mosturiser.
I reccomend dermalogica!you can go on their website and find out where is the nearest place for you to buy it.
As for your makeup situation I would reccomend buying some pressed powder and applying it after you aply your makeup and throughout the day!
